Consul of Saudi Arabia in Vienna gets ICDL

The head of the consular section, Consul Salman A. I. Al-Sheikh, of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Vienna and three members of his staff received the International Computer Driving Licence - ICDL. These were the first ICDL certificates issued and awarded in Austria.

For Consul Salman A. I. Al-Sheikh the Computer Driving Licence is an important proof of qualification. All four ICDL recipients agreed that training for the exams was a rewarding experience despite their prior computer skills. They prepared for the
exams in a self-study programme using a CD-ROM. Then they took the module tests in English.

ECDL / ICDL

The European Computer Driving Licence – ECDL is called International Driving Licence – ICDL outside Europe. The contents of ECDL and ICDL are identical. The different terminology stands for the global standard and the acceptance of the certificate in all regions of the world. In Austria an ICDL certificate can be issued upon request for use in non-European countries. The four certificates awarded were the first of their kind in Austria.

Saudi Arabia

The ICDL rates high in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the entire Gulf region. In many ministries, schools and the academic sector it has become the benchmark for computer users. For the employees of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Vienna it
means an important proof of qualification. The global development of ECDL / ICDL is led by the Foundation in Dublin (Ireland).
For the important Gulf region a special branch was founded in Dubai with offices in Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
